Assessment of Learning Differences, Mental Health Diagnoses, and Attentional Difficulties

I provide thorough psychoeducational assessments with the purpose of illuminating how individuals think, process information, and express what they know and understand. My reports can be used as a support to making decisions about educational placement including the identification of autism, emotional disturbance, learning disabilities/cognitive deficits, processing deficits, and attention difficulties. I provide special education eligibility determination following the most current state of the art processes as well as diagnostic DSM-V diagnoses. I have participated in cases that have gone to trial and have a professional reputation for legally defensible and comprehensive reports with a specialty in Dyslexia and other Specific Learning Disabilities, Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, and Emotional Disturbance, as well as differential diagnoses.

Testimonials

“Dr. Payson Hays assessed my 12-year-old son for learning disabilities and ADHD.  Not only did she help us as we met with the school to address his needs, she provided us ongoing support for a whole year after."

J.S. Schmidt

“Dr. Payson Hays conducted a thorough assessment of our kindergarten daughter to see if she needed extra support.  We were very impressed with Dr. Payson Hays' broad knowledge and ability to identify our daughter's strengths and weaknesses, as well as how to provide information to the school to best support her.”

R.S.W.

“I was pleased not only with Dr. Payson Hays' clear and comprehensive evaluation, but the way she helped us communicate with the school and her guidance in making choices about what is best for our son.”

David R.

“Dr. Payson Hays conducted an assessment of our son of both ADHD and a Visual Processing Deficit.  Not only did she help us figure out how to get him the right help at school, but she helped us figure out how to work together at home for our son to be happier and more successful.  He is now in 9th grade and doing great.”

Kallie M.

“We learned a lot about our son as a result of Dr. Payson Hays' assessment.  After she worked with us, we were better able to figure out how to advocate for him in school, and to support him at home.  She helped also to recognize the signs of when he is struggling, and this helped us notice a lot earlier when our daughter was having the same issues.”

H.S.

“My son wanted assessment of his learning style and any needed areas of support as he transitioned to college. Dr. Payson Hays was thorough, and committed to doing whatever testing that was needed in a very short period of time to meet our needs. She approaches teens/young adults in a positive manner, and my son very much enjoyed the interaction with her. I would recommend her highly.”
